Yesterday’s work party produced multiple benefits from the work of more than 15 wonderful volunteers. We are clearing out Short-Term storage and beginning to set up spaces in the portable building. Yesterday’s work party accomplished a lot. Workers on the Oak Savannah created a spiral walkway around a central outdoor classroom area. A lot of work has been going on at Siskiyou, showing dramatic results for all of the many generous donations from sangha members. Dharma Rain’s new construction trailer, a large double-wide, was delivered and put together this week. The south side of the roof is done, and looking mighty handsome. The north side is about half done as of Friday morning. As you can see above, the roof is going up on the Sodo. Roofers are working on the tricky angled bits first, and then will finish with the larger more straight-forward areas soon. Work is still moving forward. End pieces are in place, and soffits are being worked on, in preparation for finishing the roof. A large part of the infrastructure on the property has been done, ready to hook up to city water, sewer, and electrical when we can do that; along with stormwater management and preparation… Read more »
Work has slowed down a bit, but there are still processes moving forward. The big excitement of the week we were gone for Rohatsu was that the road got paved. The new doors on the east end (from the zendo going out onto what will be the engawa, looking toward Rocky Butte) and north entrance to the Sodo. The plastic cover was laid out to cover the planter box just inside the gate on NE 85th. Then concrete was poured into the bottom of it. Storm water from the oak savannah and from the roadway will be directed into this concrete catchment. From the planter box, storm water will be allowed to settle… Read more »
