Dharma Rain’s diversity, equity and inclusion assessment and planning process continues. We are now researching what other Zen Buddhist groups across the country are doing to diversify their membership, and make their organizations more equitable and inclusive. So far, 105 teachers or sanghas have responded to our survey, which was sent to members of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association (SZBA), Lay Zen Teachers Association (LZTA), and American Zen Teachers Association (AZTA). We appreciate all responses, and are particularly grateful to SZBA for partnering with us on this project.
Findings from these surveys will help inform Dharma Rain’s final diversity, equity and inclusion plan. A summary of survey findings will also be made available to members of all three national Buddhist organizations. We are pleased to learn from others who are also on this equity journey, and to share our work with them.
Dharma Rain’s diversity, equity and inclusion assessment and plan are being facilitated by Bruner Strategies.
