Planting Zen in Siskiyou Square

161-pathlightThis week’s Wednesday work party focused on getting the solar light poles up on the pathway sections, both to 82nd and down through the orchard to Russel Pond. These are only 10 feet tall, but reports from the field are that they are just as attractive and unobtrusive as the other street lights. They light up the path without spilling out into the surrounding field.

144a-dry-walling-600Drywall is going up rapidly inside the Sodo. The street continues to progress, and will take several months. Curbs continue to be poured and shaped. Excavating for more water work can begin, now that permits are in hand. The property will be accessible evenings and weekends from 85th Avenue, though Siskiyou Street itself is closed. We will keep you updated on what is available.

146a-Fu-hammerWe have work parties most Wednesdays from about 9:30am to about 3:30pm. Park nearby, walk in by the path, and look for people out toward the Sodo. Most of those days we will also be doing zazen in Uji from 11:30am to 12:25pm, followed by lunch at 12:30pm at the 85th house (3155 NE 85th, a block from the main gate).
