Dharma Rain News

A crew from Great Vow Zen Monastery came out to help with Wednesday’s work party. It made for a lively lunch, as we all got to know each other better.

Gemmon continues her work on upkeep and development of the formal Japanese-style garden in front of the Sodo. Here she uses bamboo to stake plants growing between the Sodo and the duplexes.

Other volunteers worked inside the duplexes, continuing to do what is needed to renovate the interior for residents to move in some time in the next several months. They removed old heaters from the attics. New heaters are being installed.

Thursday, the Oregon Tradeswomen came in to work on the interior as a way of gaining real hands-on work experience. They are working on floors and walls.

We have regular Wednesday work parties from around 9am to 3:30pm. There is plenty of work for people to do, inside and outside, light and heavy. Come for as much or little of the time as you wish. We have tools and gloves, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. If you are around at 12:30pm, we feed you lunch.
