Siskiyou Update
The new doors on the east end (from the zendo going out onto what will be the engawa, looking toward Rocky Butte) and north entrance to the Sodo. The east side doors have boards holding them closed for now. Elsewhere, all of the concrete for the curbs have been poured. Roofing material has been delivered, and we hope to have the roof up this week.
Work has slowed some with the arrival of winter, but there are still plenty of projects to occupy us. Wednesday work parties continue: next Wednesday, November 26, will include digging plants off site, near Oregon City. Please contact Kakumyo (kakumyo at dharma-rain.org) for information if you think you might be coming to participate in that. Above, Gyokuko sets plants in one of the bioswales during last week’s work party.
There is good news on the HHR membership front. 11 people are now on the sublet waiting list. Five of those have put in $1,000.00 to become voting members of the HHR. Nine people have expressed interest in buying in—subscribing to the LLC–later on. Two people seem ready to buy in soon. This would add two to the current 27 LLC members. Only two units will be left.
Above, workers move the several pieces of the sewer system, which will be stacked in the pit. Rubber seals are placed between each concrete barrel. Eventually this will be part of the sewer system for the entire site. Sewage will collect here and be pumped to the main line near the end of Siskiyou Street.
In case you didn’t get the word — Winter is here! The photo below is the bioswale in the ravine during last week’s icy weather.
