Siskiyou Update
Our unbroken string of work parties with good weather was finally broken, as we worked in the rain last Sunday, September 29. Madison High School students oriented themselves to the site in order to find potential points for their work. They formed into teams which will include those taking water samples over a long period of time, another team using GPS for location to photograph the same view as restoration continues, and others to study plants, insects, birds, animals, hydrology and ecology. They will also work to document their testing and to communicate that information to others. They plan to begin their detailed work this month and will probably make a trip to the site every month.
We are approved and will pick up our grading/surcharge permit on Tuesday, and will start shaping a large bioswale in the ravine on Monday. It will be a very interesting week.
