Planting Zen in Siskiyou Square
Ongoing finish work inside the Sodo is taking care of things like the trim in the back of the zendo and into the entry and dining hall, mounting fire extinguishers, signs and doorknobs for the bathrooms, laundry area in the kitchen, towel racks, fixing the doors so they all work, mounting that beautiful cedar plank as a shelf in the entryway, and myriad other details. Fujaku and Ikuo have been putting in many hours and working very hard to get as much finished as possible before the May Sit. Yesterday people met to discuss what things will go where in the dining area, including a bulletin board that will feature our Vision and other important information, statues, etc.
Outdoor work includes railings on the wheelchair ramp, moving the trash and recycling into the building provided for it, and general cleanup. The east side steps are done, and look beautiful. Gemmon continues to work on the Japanese-style garden area.
Wednesday work parties are suspended for the month of May because of the May Sit.
