Planting Zen in Siskiyou Square
Yesterday’s work party accomplished a lot. Workers on the Oak Savannah created a spiral walkway around a central outdoor classroom area. If you look closely at the center of the photo above, you can see Gyokuko (wearing a blue-green jacket) giving a tour to a visitor. At right you see some of the wonderful sangha volunteer workers. Pictured are LaShelle Yoan Lowe-Charde and Rob Ki’an Holt, along with Ananda and Toby. In the background are Steve Tai’an Blackwood and Arjuna James Badgley.
Other work projects included finishing some doors on the Sodo so they can get hardware installed later this week, allowing everyone to come in and go out more easily, and beginning to move some office things into the portable building.
Work parties are every Wednesday on the property from about 9:30am to about 3:30pm. Lunch is provided for those who are around at noon. Come in the gate at NE 85th and Siskiyou and look for people out toward the Sodo.
In addition to ongoing construction at various places on the site, there are also beginnings of plants coming up, promising spring. Below is a patch of lupine coming in strong after the winter.
