Dharma Rain News

Last Sunday (June 3), the end of the Dharma School year, students presented skits to share some of what they learned this last year. The theme for the year was the Six Realms. A crowd gathered in the zendo, and included the adults and the children’s mingling together for lots of fun. Several of us thought that the skits this year were the best ever.

The day before, on Saturday (June 2), Seido came up from her organic farm to present the Zen of Gardening. As an organic farmer, psychotherapist, and Dharma Rain Zen Teacher, Seido is uniquely qualified to lead such a workshop, and she had several enthusiastic participants helping and listening.

The workshop began with people gathering in a circle to sit outside in the garden. Seido emphasized that in addition to doing things in the garden, it’s also important to sit and listen and watch. So in addition to lots of information and hands-on activity, there was also meditation involved.

Seido also delivered a donation to the center of a brush mower, from Josu who lives near Seido. Kakumyo and Seido talk in the back of her truck during a break. The mower is being a big help in taming the prolific grass on the property. Many thanks to Josu and Seido both.

Wednesday Work Parties

We have regular Wednesday work parties from around 9am to 3:30pm. There is plenty of work for people to do, inside and outside, light and heavy. Come for as much or little of the time as you wish. We have tools and gloves, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. If you are around at 12:30pm, we feed you lunch.
