About Denkoe This Year

Koun-EjoRegistration Deadline is Wednesday, May 30th

This will be our last Denkoe Sesshin on the Madison Street property, it is a smaller, more intimate retreat, and this year we will hold most of it at the Dharma House. The chapter for this year will be the last case of the Denkoroku, on Koun Ejo, disciple of Dogen, and the second abbot of Eiheiji. Denkoe begins 7pm Monday, May 5, and ends Sunday morning, May 11, before the regular Sunday program.

Keizan wrote the Dekoroku as talks for his disciples at Daijoji, and as he was contemplating several moves that would solidify the new tradition developing in Echizen into Soto Zen. This seems to be a very fitting topic as we move into a time of transition and development. The retreat is open for drop ins in the mornings and evenings, but Dharma Talks will be in the afternoons, except for Wednesday. That evening the talk will be in the evening, and at the Zendo during zazen. If you are interested in attending this retreat, please click here.
