Mountains and Waters Backpacking Sesshin
This retreat will follow regular sesshin form insofar as practical, though kinhin will often involve a backpack. The backpacking level of effort is moderate. We will be in the Indian Heaven Wilderness in SW Washington, and most of our travel will be on unofficial, unmaintained trails. Most of this is gradual, though there are several short steep climbs. Total hiking distance is about 10 miles. Gyoshi and Shisei co-lead the retreat.
Wilderness rules limit us to 12 people including the two co-leaders. If more than 10 people want to participate, we’ll give priority to DRZC members and then select remaining names at random. We’ll have a preliminary informational meeting after dharma talk on Sunday, July 24. Sign-up will begin then and end August 15, though if we’re not full people may sign up after that date.
There is no fee for this retreat though there will be some minor shared expenses for gas and food for communal meals. Dana to Dharma Rain Zen Center will be gratefully accepted. If you have questions, please contact Gyoshi.
