This retreat is an annual event for sangha members who spend several days in contemplation of this sutra, the natural world, the immediate sangha, and their own body and mind’s response to it all.
The backpacking level of effort is on the strenuous end of the spectrum for the Cascades. We will be headed to Goat Rocks Wilderness in Washington, which is mostly fairly steep, alpine terrain. Distances covered will be 6-10 miles a day, with a new site each night. There may be some snow, and temperatures will likely be cold at night. Mornings will be silent and formal, afternoons informal, and facilitated discussion and meditation in the evenings. Kakumyo and Sosetsu will lead the retreat.
Group size is limited to 12. Weather backup date is October 10-13. If you have questions or want to sign up for the retreat, please contact Kakumyo.
