Fall Term Student Retreats
The Fall Term Student program is designed to provide structure for members of Dharma Rain Zen Center who wish to deepen their connection with the Sangha and to intensify their practice for a specific period of time. The fall term consists of three 8-hour retreats about a month apart. Committing to a term provides a clear beginning and end to a period when Zen practice and involvement at the Zen Center take a higher priority in your life. Because you are not making a long-term commitment, and because you are joining others in the term, the chances of following through on your intention to intensify practice can be greatly improved.
In addition to the three required retreats, a student typically increases participation in Dharma Rain events such as retreats, classes, and Fusatsu during the term. The retreats this fall will be on the Saturdays of September 21, October 19, and November 16. Each retreat will include zazen as well as group sessions focusing on life stories from different perspectives, mondo around a text, or drawing/explaining personal mandalas of vow. Teachers are Gyoshi and Shin’yu. Please read more about this program here.
If it’s the first time you’ll be doing the term student program, or if it’s been a while since you have, teachers will be contacting you to set up an interview. Registration closes on September 13. Please don’t wait to the last minute.
This program is for members, and requires pre-registration and an interview with a teacher if you haven’t done the program before. Registration for this program is limited to 24 people.
Term Student registration is now closed.
