Africa-baboonAlmost a year ago co-Abbots Kyogen and Gyokuko traveled to Uganda with Lay Teacher Sallie Jiko Tisdale to visit center member David Choten Robinson. Choten was working at the Engeye Clinic in Ddegeya Village, Uganda, managing the Engeye Scholars program getting children into school who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. Jiko has served as a nurse at the facility many times over several years, and is well known there as well. We went with Choten on trips to see the schools, saw the clinic in action, and took trips to nature reserves to see amazing animals including elephants, giraffes, leopards, chimpanzees, and uncountable numbers of amazing birds. We crossed the equator, sat on the shores of Lake Victoria, and watched hippos in the Victoria Nile.

Join Choten, Jiko, Gyokuko and Kyogen as they recount their adventures and show some amazing photos of this gorgeous country and beautiful people.
