The Dharma Garden Council has been working to re-imagine Dharma School in the time of COVID-19. Here’s what we’ve come up with.
We have a new theme for this year: Kanzeon Who Hears the Cries of the World. We feel that this theme is very relevant right now, as we live through the suffering caused by the pandemic, and address racial and social injustice, systemic discrimination and violence. As the Boddhisatva of compassion, Kanzeon meets our distress with compassionate wisdom. We can turn to her for support and guidance and we can strive to embody the compassion that she brings to the world. (We also note that Kanzeon is our original transgender Boddhisatva!) So we hope that our classes this year will address the world we live in right now, with compassion and courage.
Because of COVID-19, the format for Dharma School will look very different. We will meet for 6 consecutive Sundays, September 13-October 18, from 9:30am to approximately 10:15am. That will be our fall term. Our hope is that, in scheduling like this, we create cohesion and continuity as well as a sense of community as much as possible. We plan a second term starting in January but the form that takes will be determined by the virus.
Registration is open HERE. You will need to register for Dharma School to receive a zoom link but the fee this year is donation based.
