Awakening Joy – The Sun Behind the Clouds

Can a Buddhist have a good time? The Dalai Lama said that, “The purpose of life is to seek happiness.” Neuroscientists say that we are wired for survival to look for what might harm us. How can we use mindfulness to rewire our brains toward joy?
Erin and Zoki are leading a new biweekly mindfulness group staring February 13th, based on the book Awakening Joy. This study group will view the videos of the on-line course “Awakening Joy” and discuss how to support a daily mindfulness practice that cultivates wholesome states that are the underpinnings of real joy. Our essential nature is said to be “eternal, joyous, selfless, and pure.” If it is always there then what are the “clouds” which obscure it?
