Great Matter Workshop
A Workshop on Preparing for Death, led by Jiko with assistance from Annen
This workshop will be Friday evening 7-9pm and Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm. Registration is limited and is not open at this time. Those who were registered for this workshop’s originally scheduled date have priority. If space becomes available, a registration form will be added to this page.
Each of us will die. Each of us will grieve people we love. We will do both those things in a culture uncomfortable with death, with little shared vocabulary for how we talk about it. How do we prepare for death when it is difficult to even talk about dying? Resistance is part of our relationship to death. How do we get ready to die? We start with not being ready. We start with the fact that we are afraid.
In this workshop, participants will consider the questions and fears they carry about dying and death. How do we prepare for and react to the deaths of those we love? What do we mean by the phrase “a good death”? How do we plan for a mysterious event and then let go of our attachment to it?
