Genzo-e Summer Retreat
This year Genzoe will be offered both in person and on Zoom. If you are attending only on Zoom, and would like to make a donation, please use the form below.
Each summer we take a week to study a fascicle of Dogen’s Shobogenzo. This June we will be sitting with Jisho Zanmai – Self-realization Samadhi.
The focus of sesshin is sustaining practice during an intensive period, acting out our Buddhahood in the meditation, disciplines and rituals of a traditional Zen retreat. Sesshin is gathering our intention in a resolute and dignified manner so that we can put it directly on what is most important. We do this for a week in a structured and supportive container, and then bring the perspective gained to the rest of our life.
This year, responding to coronavirus precautions, we will not be serving food or offering overnight accommodations, and there will be a cap of 25 on-site participants. All zazen and service will happen outdoors, with participants spacing themselves apart around the Sodo, and doing kinhin on their own. The morning and evening meditations and teisho will be accessible to all via zoom. Registration is required for sanzen or in-person participation.
For other questions or concerns about your attendance, please speak with the shuso.
