Dharma Rain News

On a rainy Thursday, this view from the densho bell shows Rocky Butte wreathed in mist, and trees and shrubs in their new green colors.

This week’s work has focused on moving out of the 85th house, taking most of the furniture, temple things, and residents’ stuff to be stored temporarily in the barn, pending certificate of occupancy for the duplexes. Residents are camping out in the Sodo and Founders Shrine in the mean time.

We appreciate our wonderfully accommodating landlord at the 85th house, sangha member Ken Barker, who has patiently waited for us to be able to move out of that house. And, for those inquiring about whether that house is now available to rent, we regretfully report that Ken and Jeff have their own plans for that house, and it will not go on the market. It has been a lovely neighborhood to live in, and we appreciate the chance to get to know some of the neighbors and have a quiet, safe place to live while waiting for our own residences on the property to be ready.

Wednesday Work Parties

We have regular Wednesday work parties from around 9:30am to 3:30pm. There is plenty of work for people to do, inside and outside, light and heavy. Come for as much or little of the time as you wish. We have tools and gloves, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. You are welcome to participate in a mid-day sit from 11:30am to 12:30pm, and if you are around at 12:30pm, we feed you lunch.
