Siskiyou / Transition Update

Suddenly summer seems like tomorrow. Things are starting to move very fast behind the scenes in preparation for the summer’s construction activities. Lots of details coordinating with the city, engineers, insurers, contractors, suppliers, DEQ, and various partners so that as dry weather arrives we are ready to take advantage of it. We have heavy equipment temporarily back on site for several days as we’re preloading the area for the future workshop and recycling area.

DSbuilding-planningLast week we kicked off design for the Dharma School building with the help of many design professionals from several different firms who are inspired to help this project come to fruition. Pictured are Eiko and Rebecca (left) from Howell’s Architecture & Design, Gyokuko from Dharma Rain, and people from Mahlum. Many thanks also to Craig Briscoe from Glumac, Sokai from Green Hammer, and Brian Squillace from Mahlum.

We now have a Moving Milestones document so that you can see current plans for what will happen next with the move. The document will continue to be updated as we know more about what will happen when. One current update to be aware of is that we are preparing to pack the library, and ask that for the return of any checked-out books by Thursday, May 1, 2014. As of May 1, we will also suspend accepting donations of new books, and will resume accepting donations once we have library space available at the new property.
